The Pipemaster Model 510 is a 300 Amp output programmable GTAW power source with an integral weld Head controller. The compact portable design is equally suitable for shop and site use. It is simple to program and operate. The Pipemaster provides the precision and consistency of machine control to the welding process, producing welds that meet all code acceptance standards. Productivity is increased resulting from the high duty cycle of mechanized welding. Costly rework due to weld defects and repairs is substantially reduced of eliminated. PROGRAMMABLE The microprocessor-based Pipemaster provides internal storage of 100 weld programs using the latest technology in solid state memory. A standard data card provides external program storage and transfer of programs between systems. SIMPLIFIED PROGRAMMING Select the weld Head to be used and the preferred default programming mode - position or time - is automatically selected. Simple fusion and tubesheet weld Heads are most commonly programmed with time-based parameter changes. Multipass pipe weld Heads are normally operated using position-based programming, eliminating calculations to determine when program changes must be made. A sensor in the weld Head provides position information. Both programming modes allow programs of up to five weld passes, with six levels per pass (32 levels including upslope/downslope). All welding parameters may be changed at each level. Programming is guided by simple prompts in plain language. All weld head functions are programmable. The Pipemaster can be used with all Magnatech weld head models (GTAW process) for orbital tube, pipe, tubesheet, and welding lathe applications. The Pipemaster controls arc ignition and all weld current parameters including upslope/downslope and pulsing. All weld Head functions such as rotation speed, filler wire speed, torch oscillation (weave), and electronic arc gap control (AGC/AVC) may be synchronized with pulsed current. OFFLINE PROGRAMMING USING A STANDARD PC Optional software is available to allow weld programs to be created on a standard personal computer.
TEACH MODE The Teach Mode speeds program development. Approximate parameter values are entered (or an existing program copied). A test weld is then made in Teach mode. Changes made during welding are temporarily stored and can be "saved" as a new weld program. PROGRAMMABLE OVERRIDES PROVIDE SUPERVISORY CONTROL The welder may override programmed parameters but only within preset limits. Override limits are set for each parameter (0-100% of programmed value). A key switch limits access to both programming and override presets. Welders can be given sufficient override capability to compensate for pipe fit up variations, for example, but prevented from deviating beyond heat input limitations. |
