Magnatech designs welding system for PCI Energy Services! |

Early in 2003, PCI Energy Services (PCI), located in Lake Bluff, Illinois, contacted Magnatech in regards to a special welding system to perform a critical weld in a very restrictive area. The critical welding is performed on control rod drive mechanisms (CRDM) in nuclear reactors. PCI contacted Magnatech because of the past engineering of similar special welding systems that were designed for ABB Combustion Engineering in 1999. PCI contacted Magnatech due to our excellent reputation and ability to satisfy our customer's requirements. The weld to be performed is in a tight radial clearance and therefore, cameras had to be mounted on the weld head and the images are fed back to a monitor so the welder can see the welding as it is being performed.
